CONVERGE Application Workshop Rotating Machinery November 11, 2022 Hilton Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf, Germany Registration Overview The CONVERGE Application Workshop brings together attendees from industry and academia to discuss today’s pressing engineering problems. This event will focus on how to design optimized rotating machines using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Rotating machines are integral components in numerous systems across industries. Pumps, compressors, fans, and blowers are complex devices, often containing multiple moving parts as well as valves regulated by the flow field. CFD can provide significant insight into the performance of these machines, but their complexity can make them challenging to simulate in many CFD software suites. In this workshop, you’ll learn about the tools CONVERGE CFD software offers to facilitate rotating machinery simulations, including fully autonomous meshing and a library of state-of-the-art physical models. You’ll hear industry experts discuss how they use CFD as an essential part of their design workflow and attend interactive CONVERGE CFD software demonstrations. Venue Hilton Düsseldorf Georg-Glock-Straße 20 40474 Düsseldorf, Germany Featured Speakers James Willie, Ph.D. Dr. James Willie earned a Doctor of Engineering in mechanical engineering from RWTH Aachen University in 2011. From 2012–2018, he worked as a Development Engineer at Gardner Denver. Currently, he is a Senior Development and Simulations Engineer at CVS Engineering GmbH. His work focuses on the development and optimization of positive displacement pumps, blowers, and compressors using CFD. Nicolò Beccati, M.Sc. Mr. Nicolò Beccati received his M.Sc. in mechanical engineering in 2017 from the University of Ferrara, Italy. In 2016, he started working on CFD modelling of rotating machinery, focusing on turbomachinery, off-road vehicles, piston compressors, and vacuum pumps. He is currently an RD Engineer at DVP LAB, the research laboratory of DVP Vacuum Technology located in San Pietro in Casale (Bologna, Italy). His career with DVP LAB started in 2020, where he is now responsible for numerical simulations and mechanical development of new products.
